After losing the first of four games the Pioneer's split a double header with Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. Going into Sunday the Pioneer baseball team needed a win to stay in the hunt for the conference tournament.
Matt Fitton started the game for the Pioneers and came away with his first victory of the season moving his record to 1-5.
The Pioneers, 6-29 and (4-8), scored four times in the bottom of the third. Mike Drowne reached on an infield single with one out. Phil Tantillo followed with a single up the middle and Edwards plated Drowne with a single to left. Tyler Santos singled to right to load the bases, and Lynch hit a sacrifice fly to center to score the second run. On the relay home on the sac fly, Vittek threw the ball away to allow the runners to advance to second and third. DH Paul Schmidt made it hurt with a two-run single to center to make it 4-2.
The Pioneer's would not look back from there winning the game 11-8 with Mick Oswald getting his first save of the season.
The Pioneer's play there next home game Tuesday at 3:30 PM vs. the Rhode Island Rams.
Hope to see everyone there.

I wish there was a baseball field on campus, I think you would have a lot more people going to the games. Baseball was such a big to-do at my high school and everyone went. I feel if there was a field on campus it would draw more attention and hype up the team itself.
This will probably happen after we graduate. haha.
