Random Comment

Now i KNOW these last couple of entries takes me away from my blog topic, but sometimes you just have to go on a tangent. Who knows who reads this stuff. But anyways getting to the point, I commented on a guys blog that was about how he fixes up Volkswagens and makes them really nice. The comment is here. But I think you should check out his site (click here) just for his pictures and what he does with these cars, it is really amazing. Well...See ya later.

Required Blog Post

I read on John Battelle's blog, that microsoft withdrew its offer of acquistion from Yahoo! I find this shocking because in order to compete with Google, Microsoft needs to step up in the fields of inerent search and other internet aspects. It will be interesting to see where this goes in the future, to see if Yahoo! was just interested in getting more money out of Microsoft, or will Microsoft be forced to look somewhere else to get a gateway to the internet.

Top Ten Sales Promotions used by MLB

I found a pretty cool article today waiting for my coach to email the team whether or not our game was canceled today due to the rain. Well anyways, I found an article about the Top 10 promotions used by teams in Major League Baseball to get their seats filled. It's a really cool article if you want to check it out just click here.

So other then the article, I forgot to post regarding the teams current status. Before this weekend the Pioneer's came into the series with an even conference record of 8-8. This weekend we face a tough opponent in CCSU and they have beaten us in the first three games up till now. The first game was lost by back to back homeruns in the top of the ninth to put CCSU up by one run. Although it was a heartbreaker we did come out the next day and compete very well against them, but couldn't hang on to the leads.

We play today Sunday, May 4 at 6:30 PM at The BallPark at Harbor Yard.

Pioneer's Split Series with the Mount

After losing the first of four games the Pioneer's split a double header with Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. Going into Sunday the Pioneer baseball team needed a win to stay in the hunt for the conference tournament.

Matt Fitton started the game for the Pioneers and came away with his first victory of the season moving his record to 1-5.

The Pioneers, 6-29 and (4-8), scored four times in the bottom of the third. Mike Drowne reached on an infield single with one out. Phil Tantillo followed with a single up the middle and Edwards plated Drowne with a single to left. Tyler Santos singled to right to load the bases, and Lynch hit a sacrifice fly to center to score the second run. On the relay home on the sac fly, Vittek threw the ball away to allow the runners to advance to second and third. DH Paul Schmidt made it hurt with a two-run single to center to make it 4-2.

The Pioneer's would not look back from there winning the game 11-8 with Mick Oswald getting his first save of the season.

The Pioneer's play there next home game Tuesday at 3:30 PM vs. the Rhode Island Rams.

Hope to see everyone there.

Jasper's take down the Pioneer's

Yesterday April 16, the Pioneer's took on the visiting Manhattan College Jaspers. The Jaspers came out on top pounding out 17 hits and taking advantage of seven walks and three errors to beat Sacred Heart 14-6 in a non-conference game.

Sophomore Mike Drowne started on the mound for the Pioneers and allowed six earned runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings. He also walked five batters. Freshman Chris Whittemore had three of the 14 Pioneer hits, including an RBI double. Shortstop captain, Phil Tantillo had a pair of hits and an RBI.

SHU will be in action again this weekend when they play a four-game series against Mount St. Mary's at home starting Friday at 3 p.m.

Get out to Harbor Yard Ballpark and support the Pioneer's. I know with a 4-27 record we are not much to support but we can use the support more then ever right now and hopefully we will even our conference record to 6-6 this weekend with a four game sweep over Mount Saint Mary's. GO VQUZESHUF!!!!
